===Project===

We are in the process of taking stereo photographs of an excavation site in Jordan. Then we are going to superimpose the images with a 3D model of the site. This will give the viewer an understanding of the visual appearance of the site today and thousands of years ago.

When taking stereo images we are recording additional meta-data with the images:

* GPS latitude/longitude of tripod mount on slide bar
* GPS elevation OR height of camera lens above ground
* Compass orientation angle (note whether true OR magnetic north)
* Make sure slide bar is level (use bubble level on slide bar)
* For the left and right eye images the camera lens needs to be a 2.5 inches apart. This is the distance the red dots on the slide bar are at.
* Use manual exposure control on the camera. Make sure the exposure settings (especially aperture, time, ISO value, focal distance) are the same for both stereo images (also see settings below).
* Make sure date and clock on camera are accurate
* Write down time when pictures were taken (to correlate image files with meta-data and know time of day)
* Do NOT have camera print time stamp on images

The camera should use the following settings for all images:

* Resolution: 5 megapixels, image quality: fine
* Zoom setting: widest angle possible
* Flash: off
* Macro: off
* ISO sensitivity: 100 (fixed)
* Aperture: higher number is better (range: 2.8 - 8.0)
* White balance: daylight (fixed)
* Exposure compensation: +-0 EV
